QUT Impact Lab Design Intensive is a 2.5 day design challenge for the students. Students will come up with solutions for a community partner of their choice. Our group was working with the community partner A Brave Life
A Brave Life is a non for profit organisation founded by Mel Redsell ,who became a mother at a younger age, that provides young mothers with guidance and support
According to Mel and Hope, a young mother her self, two of the problems young mothers face after having their babies are having a safe housing arrangement and paying for childcare. Our team decided to come up with a solution for the childcare situation. After some consideration we came up with a idea for a donation platform that would fund childcare for young mothers.
From our research we found out that more than 50% of donors are one time donors and they donate less than $50
Hence the Digital Donation Kiosk was created. We wanted to include contact-less payment for ease of use and encourage donations. The donation will also be preset to $5, $10 and $20.
After going through some concepts the group decided on the final design for the kiosk and created a prototype.
At the end of the design intensive the design and the prototype was presented to A Brave Life organisation.
